On the heels of a blistering heat wave where temperatures peaked at 113 degrees Fahrenheit, New York started the week with two days of temperatures with a “real-feel” of around 100 degrees. A meteorologist points out that it takes three consecutive days of heat to be considered a heat wave, but the distinction is not likely to matter to sweltering New Yorkers.

On days like this, there’s nothing more satisfying than jumping in a pool to cool off. There are public poolsthroughout the five boroughs, and many popular gym chains include this amenity. However, some lucky residents need not leave their buildings to go for a swim. We take a look at the best pools in New York condos and rentals.

The apartments in the landmarked Woolworth Tower Residences offer incredible luxury underscored by a sense of living history, and that combination carries over to the amenities as well: The seven-foot-deep basement pool was originally commissioned for Frank F.W. Woolworth. Its restoration was inspired by original marble coping, and the end result is more opulent than ever before.

555TEN is among the most spectacular in a new crop of amenity-rich luxury rentals that has risen near Port Authority and now enjoys excellent access to Hudson Yards. Its crowning glory is a rooftop swimming pool that overlooks spectacular sunset, skyline, and Hudson River vistas. However, inclement weather need not keep residents from enjoying a swim; the health and wellness floor’s extensive offerings include an indoor saltwater lap pool.

While the tallest tower in the new Hudson Yards neighborhood is home to 22,000 square feet of residential amenities, its most exciting offering is perhaps a membership at the building’s high-floor Equinox Club and Spa. It is the luxury fitness chain’s largest to date and boasts a 75-foot saltwater pool with floor-to-ceiling windows to make the most of Hudson River views, much like the apartments above.
