If being afar to take it all in is more your style, try heading to FDR Drive at Houston Street or at East River Park, located near good bars.

Macy’s recommends the intersection of Market Street and Cherry Street as a wheel-chair accessible spot for special needs viewers and anyone else looking for a great view of the grand fireworks show.

You can find the southernmost entry point recommended by Macy’s at Broad Street and Water Street. This spot also offers a spectacular view near the star of the show — the Brooklyn Bridge.

You can spend all of Independence Day at Coney Island. Soak up some sun at the beach or watch the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. You can also view the fireworks from the boardwalk, Coney Island beach, and Brighton.

Go up to the One World Trade Center Observatory and see the spectacular display from above.

Just at the Manhattan waterfront, the East River Esplanade and Pier 15 offer great views of the East River as well as the Brooklyn Bridge (which has a grand display on its own).

Grand Ferry Park (1 Grand Street) has scenic Manhattan skyline views and a paved walking path down the waterfront. There is room for lawn chairs and picnic blankets, perfect for relaxing on the grass.

Gantry Plaza State Park (4-09 47th Road, Long Island City) is away from the hectic NYC and Brooklyn spots. It’s recommended to get there early, especially by the waterfront, as it is the prime viewing spot in Queens.
