Museo del Prado 2023: Exhibitions and News
The Prado Museum is one of the most important museums in the world and in the city of Madrid .
It was created by the Spanish monarchs who reigned between the 16th and 17th centuries. All of them were great art collectors.
Together with the Thyssen Museum and the Reina Sofía Museum , they form part of the so-called “Madrid art triangle”.
The Prado Museum and its collections are a reflection of the history of Spain.
You will currently find 4,900 works of art inside that date from the Romanesque to the 19th century.
Titian was the first painter to be part of this immense collection. He was followed by Venetian painters including Tintoretto and Flemish painters such as Van Dyck .
Some artists that make up the great collection of the Prado Museum are El Bosco , El Greco , Rubens , Velázquez and Goya .
You will find works as spectacular as The Garden of Earthly Delights by El Bosco, The Knight with his Hand on the Chest by El Greco, The Holy Family known as La Perla by Raphael, Carlos V in Mühlberg by Titian, The Lavatory by Tintoretto, the Self -portrait by Dürer, L as Meninas by Velázquez, The Three Graces by Rubens or The Family of Carlos IV by Goya.

This year 9 new temporary exhibitions await us at the Prado Museum:
Guido Reni exhibition
It will bring together around 100 works that include painting, sculpture and graphic work, some of them never before exhibited or recently restored.
This exhibition pays special attention to Guido Reni’s link with Spain. In addition, works by artists such as Tiziano, the Caracci, Caravaggio, Zurbarán, Ribera or Murillo will be added.
We can see it from March 28 to July 9, 2023.
Exhibition Spanish painting from The Frick Collection
Spanish painting from one of the best art collections, The Frick Collection, will arrive this spring at the Prado Museum. Nine emblematic works by Velázquez, El Greco, Murillo and Goya will be exhibited again in Spain, seven of them for the first time since leaving the country.
It can be visited from March 7 to July 2, 2023.
