Kandinsky. A retrospective

Yellow-Red-Blue

The Cibeles Centre offers you the chance to enjoy the work of the great Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky, forerunner of abstract art, in the largest retrospective exhibition ever held in Spain, organised by the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Arthemisia Group.

The exhibition features close to 100 works including canvases, watercolours and etchings covering the key periods of his career, from his early years in Germany, his time in Russia, and finally his stay in France, through four sections: Munich 1896-1914, Russia 1914-21, Bauhaus 1921 – 33 and Paris 1933-44. The works exhibited include outstanding pieces such as Alte Stadt II (1902), Lied (1906), Im Grau (1919) and Bleu de ciel (1940).

In 2014, this exhibition was held in the Palazzo Reale in Milan, where visitors flocked in their droves, and subsequently it travelled to the US.
