First look at Studio Gang-designed condo set to rise next to Downtown Brooklyn’s Macy’s
The 51-story condo is being developed by Tishman Speyer, the same firm revamping the Macy’s building
Developer Tishman Speyer has unveiled the first look for its ground-up condo building set to rise next to Downtown Brooklyn’s Macy’s (which the developer is revamping at present). Tishman has assembled a star-studded design team for what will be the development firm’s first ground-up condo building in the city.
That design team is led by Jeanne Gang’s Chicago-based firm, Studio Gang; the condo will feature interiors by Michaelis Boyd Associates and landscape design by Hollander Design. The project will also be Studio Gang’s first residential building in NYC. 11 Hoyt, as this condo building will now be known, will feature a total of 480 apartments and 55,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities.
The 51-story condo will have a mix of studio through four-bedroom apartments with prices expected to range from $600,000 to over $4 million. The building will have over 190 different floorplans when the project is complete.
“11 Hoyt is destined to become Downtown Brooklyn’s most desirable new address,” said Tishman Speyer CEO, Rob Speyer, in a statement. “The combination of 11 Hoyt’s world-class design, unmatched amenity space and convenient, highly coveted location make this development truly one-of-a-kind.”
Tishman has brought on Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group to handle marketing and sales at the condo, the latter of which are expected to get underway this summer. The project is expected to wrap sometime in mid-2020.
In order to build the condo, Tishman purchased the parking garage located next to Macy’s. That has since been demolished and work is underway on the condo—foundation work recently wrapped up, and construction on the concrete superstructure will begin soon. Work is also underway on the Macy’s building, which will get a 10-story office addition known as The Wheeler. Macy’s will continue to occupy the first four floors of the existing structure.
