Alice in Wonderland’-Themed Tea Party at the New York Botanical Garden
‘Alice in Wonderland’-Themed Tea Party at the New York Botanical Garden”
- A Champagne tea party for a dozen people in the heart of the New York Botanical Garden.
- Blend your own tea to take home.
- Photo opportunities with Alice in Wonderland and other costumed characters.
This experience will take place in the heart of the New York Botanical Garden’s 2024 summer exhibition, Wonderland: Curious Nature, themed around the classic children’s book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
For you and up to 11 friends, the journey through the looking glass will start via a private tour throughout this exhibition and NYBG’s expansive 250-acre grounds. You’ll find things becoming curiouser and curiouser as you roam around magnificent flower displays and art installations overseen by curator Jennifer R. Gross: Works by artists including Carsten Höller and Yoko Ono are included in this year’s show. Expect every sense to be challenged and intrigued, not least in the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden, which bursts into bloom in June and is a riot of roses through late September.
You’ll finish with a lavish private tea party at the Stone Mill, the Hudson Garden Grill, or the Garden Terrace Room, where sandwiches and gourmet treats will be served alongside organic juices, specialty teas, and, of course, Champagne. You’ll learn about the secrets of tea making from a sommelier, who will be on hand to steer you through tastings and guide you as you create your own blend to take home. One of the Garden’s top horticulturalists will also offer an intimate talk during the party discussing the themes of the exhibition, including the healing properties of tea and unexpected features of mushrooms and psilocybin.
If any of your group is under 21—or is young at heart—you can also have a meet and greet with one or two of the costumed characters. The package is available for the duration of the exhibition, which runs through October 27 of this year.
