This is the price of housing in the richest neighborhoods in Spain
The neighborhoods with the highest average annual net income per inhabitant, with data from 2020, were El Viso (40,815 euros/year), Recoletos (37,067 euros) and Castellana (36,660 euros), all three in Madrid, according to the report ‘Urban Indicators 2023 ‘ published by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
Within the cities there are also significant inequalities, according to the INE, which is why the statistics also collect data for levels below that of the city called ‘Sub-City District’ (SCD). In many cases, these levels coincide with the existing division into administrative districts or neighborhoods.
The current list of ‘SCD neighborhoods’ is made up of 17 municipalities: Alicante, Barcelona, Bilbao, Córdoba, Gijón, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Madrid, Málaga, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Seville, Valencia, Valladolid, Vigo, Vitoria and Zaragoza. In total, 523 ‘SCD neighborhoods’ are contemplated in the statistics.
Of the 10 neighborhoods with the highest income, seven are from Madrid and three from Barcelona . Those already mentioned are joined by Piovera (36,045 euros/year), Nueva España (34,317 euros), Almagro (33,101 euros) and the Aravaca-Plantio-Valdemarín area (30,073 euros). In between, the Catalans from Les Tres Torres (32,958 euros), Pedralbes (32,462), and Sant Gervasi-Galvany oest (30,407 euros).
Most of these neighborhoods have the most expensive housing prices in their cities , and also in all of Spain, although not in the same order according to income. Even some of the most expensive housing districts do not appear at the top of the INE income ranking.
