Western Hemisphere’s Highest Rooftop Infinity Pool Coming To Extell’s Brooklyn Point, Downtown Brooklyn

Renderings have been revealed for the rooftop recreation terrace on top of Brooklyn Point, located at 138 Willoughby Street, in Downtown Brooklyn. Swimmers will be able to look over the East River to Downtown and Midtown Manhattan, and once complete, it will be the highest residential infinity pool in the Western Hemisphere. The tower rises up 720 feet, nearly a hundred feet higher than the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and its rooftop pool in Singapore. Matthews Nielsen Landscape Architects will be responsible for the site, which also includes a sundeck, outdoor dining area, changing room and showers, and outdoor movie screening space.

Extell is responsible for the development. This is their first project in Brooklyn, and should become a defining contribution to the borough’s skyline.

The 68-story residential building is being designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox. It is the last phase of the City Point Development, which has already produced two residential towers above a 600,000 square foot retail space hosting a food market, groceries, and a movie theater. The tower itself yields 686,800 square feet for residential use, divided between 458 residencies.

Katherine Newman Design will be responsible for the interiors of the residences, ranging in size from studios through three-bedrooms, with prices starting at $840,000. Tenants will have access to 40,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor lifestyle amenities throughout the building, including the rooftop terrace.

SLCE Architects is the architect of record. Excavation work was completed in August, with construction now rising above street level. Completion is expected by early 2021.
